Job Description:
Our client seeks a highly skilled and experienced Reinsurance Contract Manager to join our dynamic team. As a Reinsurance Contract Manager, you will play a pivotal role in determining, calculating, and reporting on risks ceded and retained, ensuring alignment with business objectives. You will be responsible for managing ceded reinsurance contracts, collaborating with various stakeholders, and continuously improving processes.
Responsibilities:
- Review draft firm order terms and ceded reinsurance contracts to ensure alignment with business guidelines, retention targets, and P&L objectives.
- Identify reinsurers engaged in ceded reinsurance contracts and communicate this information to statutory accounting and compliance groups.
- Manage ceded reinsurance contracts in the company's reinsurance accounting system (Sapiens Reinsurance Pro), including creating and maintaining records for reinsurers, brokers, ceded programs, and contracts.
- Communicate ceded treaty terms to stakeholders, including operations, finance/accounting, business development, claims, and underwriting.
- Collaborate with business development, legal, reinsurance team members, credit risk team, brokers, and reinsurers on ceded reinsurance contracts and business performance.
- Work with IT and operations to test new reinsurance contracts and ensure data alignment.
- Evaluate reinsurance processes, recommend improvements, and implement changes.
- Identify and report misalignments in ceded reinsurance agreements and business written, such as excessive retentions and gaps in reinsurance.
- Work on quality improvement projects for policy and claims data and contracts.
- Communicate system requirements effectively to business areas.
- Act as a touch point for all requests concerning ceded reinsurance.
- Maintain process knowledge, document processes, and act as a subject matter expert.
- Assist in establishing system service metrics and ensure compliance with business needs.
- Assist in special financial and business-related studies.
Work Context:
- Expert with ceded reinsurance structures, understanding and communicating treaty reinsurance (quota share and excess of loss), and facultative reinsurance.
- Proficient in translating ceded reinsurance agreements into pre-defined systems constructs (Sapiens Reinsurance Pro).
- Proficient in analytic tools, including data gathering and analysis, spreadsheets, flow-charting, and process documentation/diagramming.
- Excellent writing skills for memos, reports, and presentations.
- Stakeholder relationship management.
- Proficient in documentation and support.
- Proficient in process review and enhancement.
Skills:
- Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of computer hardware, software, systems, databases, and reporting technology.

Experience with:
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Microsoft SharePoint or Teams
- System interfaces: experience with Sapiens Reinsurance Pro or Stone River Universal Reinsurance System preferred.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in (re)insurance, risk management, or business is preferred. Experience and certifications in reinsurance may be an adequate substitute.
Working Conditions:
- Normal office environment.
- Periodic travel between US mainland and Puerto Rico.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
Work Experience:
Minimum 5 years' experience.
