Senior Allied Healthcare Underwriter

Reports To: Underwriting Manager
About the Role
Our client seeks a seasoned Senior Underwriter with deep expertise in Allied Healthcare to join a growing national underwriting organization. In this highly visible role, you’ll be responsible for underwriting complex submissions, managing broker relationships, and contributing to the profitable growth of the Allied Healthcare book. You’ll also play a key role in mentoring junior underwriters and shaping underwriting strategy within this specialized segment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior technical underwriter for Allied Healthcare accounts, focusing on non-admitted General Liability and Professional Liability products.
- Evaluate, select, and price risks in accordance with established guidelines and individual authority levels.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with a core group of wholesale brokers, driving submission flow and business retention.
- Partner closely with the Underwriting Manager on marketing, distribution, and operational initiatives that enhance the book’s profitability and growth.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to junior underwriting staff, helping to develop their technical expertise and decision-making skills.
- Contribute underwriting insights and recommendations to improve product offerings, risk appetite, and pricing strategies.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of commercial underwriting experience, with a focus on Professional and/or General Liability; experience in Allied Healthcare is strongly preferred.
- Proven success managing and growing a profitable book of business within a wholesale distribution environment.
- Familiarity with non-admitted products, underwriting guidelines, and relevant regulatory considerations.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across underwriting, claims, and distribution channels.
- Collaborative team mindset with a proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Experience leading or mentoring underwriting teams is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Comprehensive understanding of the Allied Healthcare industry, including the risks, coverage needs, and market dynamics unique to this sector.
- Ability to assess and price complex risks, maintaining discipline in underwriting judgment and adherence to guidelines.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- High degree of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.

Compensation, Benefits, & Culture
Fully Remote role with a collaborative group of committed professionals. Regular Team Meetings and in-person meetings.
Base salary plus bonus, with a full benefits package.
Range for role depends upon experience; 100k to 155k base plus bonus
