They are seeking an accomplished Director of Commercial & Farm Lines Underwriting to lead underwriting initiatives, drive cultural and operational transformation, and strengthen key agency relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead High-Performing Teams: Oversee underwriting teams, ensuring accountability, operational efficiency, and achievement of performance goals.
- Drive Modernization & Change: Partner with directors to modernize operations, implement cultural transformations, and address leadership challenges.
- Leadership Development: Mentor underwriting managers, focusing on team engagement, development, and succession planning.
- Strategic Initiatives: Develop and execute underwriting training programs, strategic initiatives, and process improvements to align with business objectives.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: Leverage analytics to identify trends, improve performance, and enhance profitability.
- Underwriting Oversight: Establish and enforce underwriting strategies, guidelines, audits, and authority structures to ensure optimal efficiency and competitiveness.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with internal teams to overcome challenges, improve workflows, and enhance organizational effectiveness.
- Agency Partnerships: Strengthen relationships with agency partners, supporting business development efforts and driving growth.
- Market Intelligence & Strategy: Analyze market trends, provide competitive recommendations, and align strategies with industry developments.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
- Team Recruitment & Development: Recruit, mentor, and evaluate staff to maintain a high-performing, engaged team.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in property and casualty insurance, with a focus on commercial and/or farm lines underwriting.
- Leadership & Change Management: Proven success in leading change management efforts and driving cultural transformation initiatives.
- Expertise: Strong underwriting acumen with top-level authority, focusing on profitability and operational enhancements.
- Education & Designations: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; advanced designations such as CPCU, CIC, or AFIS are highly preferred.
- Strategic Focus: Demonstrated ability to drive business strategy and achieve profit and growth objectives.
- Operational Knowledge: Deep understanding of underwriting management, market analysis, and process optimization.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and proficiency in data analytics.
- Communication & Collaboration: Effective communicator and collaborator with the ability to engage across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Industry Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of contracts, legal requirements, and insurance regulations.
- Agency Relationships: Proven ability to build and maintain strong agency partnerships to support business development goals.
