Location: Hybrid Work Model – 2 days in office

Join our Client Company’s Construction Claim team as a Construction Defect Specialist and play a pivotal role in ensuring top-notch claim handling, making coverage determinations, and driving cases towards efficient resolution. How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle construction-related loss claims, focusing primarily on construction defect claims across various jurisdictions.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with our agency force, insureds, claimants, experts, attorneys, and internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as a construction subject matter expert both internally and externally, enhancing expertise through continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide valuable feedback to underwriters and support their business and marketing initiatives.
  • Deliver initiative-taking customer service throughout the claims process, ensuring timely responses and setting appropriate expectations.
  • Contribute to team success by maintaining elevated levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Pursue risk transfer opportunities and collaborate with co-carriers to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Set accurate reserves and monitor reserve accuracy over time.
  • Adhere to best practices and compliance standards.
  • Manage paid losses efficiently and settle claims at optimal times.
  • Collaborate with defense counsel on litigation strategy and cost control.
  • Attend mediations, trials, and travel overnight as required.
  • Utilize approved suppliers and manage non-legal expenses effectively.
  • Participate in company-wide Large Loss Roundtables and provide regional guidance to associates.

What You will Bring:

  • Must possess or secure and maintain appropriate state adjuster licenses and continuing education credits.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Risk Management, or related field with 6 years of insurance experience managing high-complexity claims, or 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to adjudicate complex claims at high authority limits, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel overnight up to 20%.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, negotiation abilities, and diligence.
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills, with proficiency in file management and organization.
  • Creative critical thinking skills and familiarity with insurance policies and processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in construction defect litigation and mediation management.
  • Strong coverage experience in CGL policies, especially related to construction losses.
  • Previous involvement in insurance claims with a focus on commercial claims.
