Responsibilities:
As a Captives Underwriter, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of new and existing WC/AL/GL captive programs. Your responsibilities will span various areas, including maintaining profitability, demonstrating underwriting expertise, and fostering strong relationships with brokers and clients. Key functions include:

  1. Responsibly manage assigned captive programs to achieve profitability and growth objectives:
    • Align with the client's financial forecast plan and collaborate with team members for successful execution.
    • Exceed renewal account retention, premium, and loss ratio targets.
    • Achieve new business premium and loss ratio goals.
    • Work closely with Captives business development staff to drive growth.
  2. Demonstrate underwriting discipline by adhering to Client's guidelines and approach:
    • Exhibit strong technical knowledge of workers' compensation, auto liability, and general liability insurance.
    • Conduct thorough risk analysis and ensure compliance with underwriting standards.
    • Effectively negotiate terms to meet account-level goals.
  3. Develop and maintain exceptional relationships with brokers, captive managers, and customers:
    • Deepen understanding of assigned captive programs, managers, and brokers.
    • Foster strong working relationships to leverage Client's value proposition for new and renewal opportunities.
    • Implement relationship/service plans for captive programs.
  4. Utilize and promote Client's value proposition and services:
    • Stay updated on Client resources, services, and strategic initiatives.
    • Identify and recommend services beneficial to customers.
    • Actively participate in strategic initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, preferably in Insurance or Business.
  • Over 7 years of experience in workers' compensation, auto liability, and general liability insurance.
  • Captive experience is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and operational systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to make sound business decisions.
  • Excellent written, oral, and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility with business partners and colleagues.
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to remain composed and focused under pressure.
  • Highly self-motivated with advanced time management skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.
